Today at Coleridge, we had to present to the class our ideas, thoughts and contribuation for the music video pitch. For this we included our new and improved keynote for Shadows, then we quickly created one for our second choice, Wikked Lil' Grrrls in the time we had before our presentation. Unfortunately I'm not feeling too well today and was the main speaker for our presentation, so I don't think it went too well, however Sophie contribuated aswell so that made it flow a little easier in my opinion, Liam was in control of playing the track, showing our keynotes and my blog to the class, but Liam was a bit unsure what to say about our video compositions.
Since I wasn't very well, I didn't get to say everything I wanted and felt a little uneased about the whole thing, since another group was pitching for the same song with a similar/oppisite idea, which was brilliant aswell.
The feedback we got was this;
Shadows;
-I like the fairytale theme.
-How are you going to have the eyes watching over? We weren't exactly going to have the actual eyes, but I have come across this idea and thought in post-production they can just be animated in with the fast pace and flashes of stop-motion effect.
-I like the idea of the effects with the flashing.
-I like the idea of the ending with the shadow, I think it will look quite abstract.
-I like the idea of a still camera and flashing images.
-How will you get the surreal effect? The colouring and still camera work with all the flashes should hopefully help this, we also want it to be like an old, breaking filmstrip.
-Nice plot.
-I like the Snow White idea and rabbit.
-Camera work sounds good.
-Who will act? In my head I have an image of one of my friends who has quite striking features and looks quite young, I think she would work because of this.
-Location interesting.
-Rabbit? Well, TinAARR, We thought because we'd place random objects in the woodland and barn on a table, a rabbit is quite random right? And the forest scene from Snow White consists of cute fluffy things in the end, and Alice follows one which is late so it just fits in with the whole Fairytale style concept.
-Stopmotion effect could work, how/where/when would you do it? All through the video, for a disorintated feel.
-I like the Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton style.
-Where would you film it? In Bottisham and Burwell, both quite small villages a little bit out of Cambridge.
-How will you get the rabbit? x2 Sophie contact with rabbits and I have a few friends who will lend me one if needed.
-Forest? Location.
-Good idea.
-Well planned.
-Good Concept.
-Which location? We'll probably just have three, mainly in a woodland and an abandoned barn, with a completely different look and feel from each other, also possibly outside a church, Graveyard perhaps?
-How are you going to get a clear shadow? A person dressed up in black, or an animated figure.
-Explain more clear but overall very good.
-Alice In Wonderland/Snow White- quite common, how is it going to be different? Quite a dark concept, the stop motion effects, surrealness.
-Good research.
-Good video research aswell.
-Got Permission!
Wikked Lil' Grrrls;
-I like the 1950's style. x2
-Costumes?
-I like the idea of it being simple. x5
-Good research into the song.
-Where would you get the room?
-Kiss/Contrasts what the song's saying?
-Costume basics, can work with them.
-Easy to carry out.
-How to get postwar costume?
-Dancers?
In the end, I felt that Ali's group concept of Shadows was really good and thought it was a shame they didn't pick it aswell, but I am pleased Pete decided to change the rules to let us have two of the same song, however I didn't really see much of a point doing the whole presentation when he just asked us which song we wanted to go for, alas I am very pleased that we got shadows, because after all the worry over hiring costs for the 1950's costumes and the fact that Shadows was our main basis and we all really like our pitch for this.
