Pitching for our song choice.

Today at Coleridge, we had to present to the class our ideas, thoughts and contribuation for the music video pitch. For this we included our new and improved keynote for Shadows, then we quickly created one for our second choice, Wikked Lil' Grrrls in the time we had before our presentation. Unfortunately I'm not feeling too well today and was the main speaker for our presentation, so I don't think it went too well, however Sophie contribuated aswell so that made it flow a little easier in my opinion, Liam was in control of playing the track, showing our keynotes and my blog to the class, but Liam was a bit unsure what to say about our video compositions.

Since I wasn't very well, I didn't get to say everything I wanted and felt a little uneased about the whole thing, since another group was pitching for the same song with a similar/oppisite idea, which was brilliant aswell.

The feedback we got was this;
Shadows;
-I like the fairytale theme.
-How are you going to have the eyes watching over? We weren't exactly going to have the actual eyes, but I have come across this idea and thought in post-production they can just be animated in with the fast pace and flashes of stop-motion effect.
-I like the idea of the effects with the flashing.
-I like the idea of the ending with the shadow, I think it will look quite abstract.
-I like the idea of a still camera and flashing images.
-How will you get the surreal effect? The colouring and still camera work with all the flashes should hopefully help this, we also want it to be like an old, breaking filmstrip.
-Nice plot.
-I like the Snow White idea and rabbit.
-Camera work sounds good.
-Who will act? In my head I have an image of one of my friends who has quite striking features and looks quite young, I think she would work because of this.
-Location interesting.
-Rabbit? Well, TinAARR, We thought because we'd place random objects in the woodland and barn on a table, a rabbit is quite random right? And the forest scene from Snow White consists of cute fluffy things in the end, and Alice follows one which is late so it just fits in with the whole Fairytale style concept.
-Stopmotion effect could work, how/where/when would you do it? All through the video, for a disorintated feel.
-I like the Alice in Wonderland and Tim Burton style.
-Where would you film it? In Bottisham and Burwell, both quite small villages a little bit out of Cambridge.
-How will you get the rabbit? x2 Sophie contact with rabbits and I have a few friends who will lend me one if needed.
-Forest? Location.
-Good idea.
-Well planned.
-Good Concept.
-Which location? We'll probably just have three, mainly in a woodland and an abandoned barn, with a completely different look and feel from each other, also possibly outside a church, Graveyard perhaps?
-How are you going to get a clear shadow? A person dressed up in black, or an animated figure.
-Explain more clear but overall very good.
-Alice In Wonderland/Snow White- quite common, how is it going to be different? Quite a dark concept, the stop motion effects, surrealness.
-Good research.
-Good video research aswell.
-Got Permission!

Wikked Lil' Grrrls;
-I like the 1950's style. x2
-Costumes?
-I like the idea of it being simple. x5
-Good research into the song.
-Where would you get the room?
-Kiss/Contrasts what the song's saying?
-Costume basics, can work with them.
-Easy to carry out.
-How to get postwar costume?
-Dancers?

In the end, I felt that Ali's group concept of Shadows was really good and thought it was a shame they didn't pick it aswell, but I am pleased Pete decided to change the rules to let us have two of the same song, however I didn't really see much of a point doing the whole presentation when he just asked us which song we wanted to go for, alas I am very pleased that we got shadows, because after all the worry over hiring costs for the 1950's costumes and the fact that Shadows was our main basis and we all really like our pitch for this.

Treatment Feedback.

The feedback I have had has all been positive, including from the band's manager!

A problem though however which has come up alot is, it it possible? I think, personally, that it is, the video will probably consist of more CGE, I think their main concern is the lighting with all the wires, I think that a basic type effect, like I suggested with the camera flash, will work with the theme of the video itself, however like Tom suggests below, I can ask my good ol' editing pal Elliott to help me out.
Tom also mentions about an ending I suggested, and how he likes it, I'm pleased about this because when I first wrote it down I felt it was a bit too cheesy.

Tom's Feedback:
Clear, lots of information and detailed imagery, is it possible?

Flash in woods would be done more easily using an effect in post production?
I would see Elliott about how to do this.

I like the page burning at the end.

First Draft for Au Revoir Simone's Shadows.

Whitenoise gradually turns in to a girl walking into a forest, she's dressed in a fairytale style dress, mayble like Alice in Wonderland's, with big hair and big makeup(like a Disney Cyndi Lauper).
The music will start as soon as the girl enters the woodland, she moves slowly through the forest with a curious/cautious expression and disorintated movements.
The girl will go past a variety of brightly coloured, misplayed objects, paying no attention to them, as if only the audience can see them, they might flash away or perhaps have an over exaggerated 'shadow' flash in and out, doing completely different movements to her(animation or just a person dressed in all black, same girl?)- Decided to keep the shadow but until the end sequence.

When it gets to the chorus- the 'film' would break up and cut to the girl looking almost the oppisite to before(makeup running?). She's inside an old, abandoned barn, with either a very low saturation or sepia colouring, the girl is singing the words to the camera, she looks misplaced and very small in this setting.

As soon as that chorus finishes, it will flash back to the girl wondering around the forest, this time with closeups of her face maybe lip syncing aswell, the woodland starts flashing(Could be achieved with a Nikon camera flash), this will continue until the middle eight, which is where she stops still and starts to spinning on the spot(or another repetitive 'dance') the shot will cut to her in the barn again, spinning in the same spot, going back and fourth from each shot, maybe a third location too(Church or graveyard perhaps?) with a completely different outfit again.

When the middle eight stops, she collapses on the ground in each location and continues singing, in the woodland setting a bright light emerges from the cameras right, she starts to sheild her eyes, as this happens it will flash from her doing this and just sitting there with a freaky shadowy figure stalking behind her, obviously being revealed by the light, the figure keeps getting closer to her with each flash. The girl gradually turns around and before noticing the figure the film breaks up again and goes back to the barn with the girl sitting there with a book in front of her on a table, she is surrounded by the objects from before(including a keyboard, which will be one of the main objects throughout)and seems to be drawing in the book, by this time the song has ended, the camera zooms into the book, it turns out it is called shadows and she is manipulating the story by pasting a picture of herself next to the prince.
The video may end with the page burning.

Chris Cunningham.

Born 1970 in in Reading, England, Chris Cunningham is one of the most influential, critically acclaimed music video directors of all time.

He started off in 1989 working for the animatronics section on Spitting Image, where he created robotic arms and sculptures for the popular television programme.
Four years later, and he's working for James Cameron's Alien 3 and then a year on he's working for Judge Dredd, creating comic book covers and sculptures for the motion picture.
Stanley Kubrick saw his work on Judge Dredd and insisted Cunningham to work for him on creating the robotic boy at the end of his motion picture, A.I, however, in 1995 Kubrick handed A.I over to Stephen Spielberg, but the film itself never got in to action until after Kubrick's death in 1999.

Aphex Twin's 'Come To Daddy' music video is probably his most famous piece, the video is a twisted, yet comical video featuring an old woman walking her dog and a load of children with the face of the band's lead singer.

A popular alternative band at the time he worked with was Placebo, who he produced a somewhat experimental video shooting the band performing underwater, which of course later on he used this technique in Portishead's Only you, but editing out the bubbles for a more surreal effect.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9TTuYKJvnA Placebo- 36 Degrees

In 1998 he worked with Madonna and created a video which changed the look of her at the time, no one had seen her in this light before. The video is very dark and has a blue sort of tint to it, the video also consists of a Gothic Witchy Persona Madonna in a black cape and hair, transforming into certain figures.
The song and video itself happen to me one of my favourites of all time.

The music video for Bjork's All is Full of Love featured two intimate robots and has won a series of awards in the meantime. The video itself is on permanent display in New York's, Museum of Modern Art.

Cunningham went on a hiatus for seven years from creating music videos until 2006 where he directed The Horror's Sheena is a Parasite. The video featured Samantha Morton as a manic in the video and starts to spew her intestines at the viewer towards the ending. The video was shot on a low budget but was sharply edited, however the video itself was instantly banned from MTV UK, based on the strobe lighting, not the contexts, Cunningham didn't want to edit out the lighting because he felt it would ruin the feel and effect of the video, I strongly agree with this.

Draft Treatment.

Due to having a lack of internet connection, I was unable to write down the draft whilst listening to the actual song, and it takes up three pages in my media book! But I do have large handwriting.

I thought because the band is named after a Tim Burton quote, that the video could be a bit darker than first imagined.

SUCCESS!

Au Revoir responded to my email, saying we're welcome to use their song and good luck to us.

Here's the responce:

Reply; Kinda...

I got a response from the band's European Publicity, although it was just a bot saying that they're on annual leave, here's the email:

Shadows Lyrics.

you tell me
that it's getting better
but every time that we say goodnight [goodnight goodnight]

I'm haunted by your eyes
and how long they've been crying

don't tell me
about a bad reaction
don't tell me that you plan to hide [to hide to hide]
reasoning aside

I'm moving on
I hope you're coming with me
I hope you're coming with me

anyone can answer their own questions
all you have to do is look inside [inside inside]
you know it inside
you know it will be alright [alright alright]
you know its alright

I'm moving on
I hope you're coming with me
cause I'm not strong
without you

don't blame it on
your shadows

cause I know all
about you

Band Research.

Au Revoir Simone is a three piece girl band from Brooklyn, New york which formed in 2003.

The band's name comes from Tim Burton's Pee-Wee Herman's Big Adventure which was created in 1985.

The band consist of three keyboards and a drum machine, all the members do the vocals too, their musical genre is a mix between indie and techno.

They have been influenced by the likes of Beach Boys, Bjork, David Bowie, Billie Holiday and The Bee-Gees.

A few of their songs have been featured on popular television shows too such as Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. They have also been featured in some foreign films, Keinohrasen, Kimi no Tomodachi.

The band themselves have released three studio albums, the first two under Moshi Moshi records and the third Our Secret Record Company.

Contacting the Band.

Today, I felt it was necessary to email the band via their myspace or twitter account.

I first tried their twitter, but the service was unavailable so I went over to their myspace page and emailed the band through that.

In the letter I linked my groups slideshow and blogs and gave them an idea of where and what will be in our video and the special effects we would use, however, because I cannot get access to the internet at home, I am at my boyfriend's house and he suggested to contact the band via their official website, whilst doing this the page provides a contact list with all the bands email addresses and their publicity and manager's, so I emailed the bands manager, their official email and their European Publicity- all the ones I felt were necessary, here are screen grabs of each email, using my Hotmail account;

Our Keynote

Moodboard and Promotional Postcard task.

Today we were asked to produce a moodboard for the chosen song of our choice containing imagery relating to either the song or our thoughts about it and then a promotional postcard for the song saying that the video will be coming soon.

For our moodboard we just used Keynote and contained images found from various search engines- Flickr, Photobucket, Deviantart and google images.

For the postcard however, we used an image found on the bands myspace and added a load of different effects for a grainy, shadowy effect.

My Generation music video

In todays session, we had to edit the footage together of the My Generation clips we filmed last friday, unfortunately however, mine crashed during the process so I lost my footage.

Even though this has happened, I really hope our group does not choose to do all the footage of a band or person lip syncing, because it's a lot of effort and you can't always assure that the performer will get the right verses.

What I have noticed before doing this though is that professional artists do not mime the lyrics, they sing it out loud, I think that this probably helps when the editors of the footage need to sync it together, because you can hear both the audio and the voice to help go with the lip movements, it can also mean the performer should be in perfect timing with the actual lyrics and is not just mumbling along.

WIKKED LIL GRRRLS

The actual name of the song? Wow...

Anyway, I think this may be the second song we'll be pitching for, which is also quite a popular choice with others too.

What we thought up for this is a 1920's feel with a posh party setting, sounds a bit 'expensive' yes, but there's an antique costume shop which lets you hire materials for this type of thing.

When I first heard the song, Chicago came in to my head;

Possibly because the song is about, wicked girls, like Chicago but also the jazz sort of beat to it. I like the idea of flashes of the girlband in a urban lower class state, then as flapper girls in the posh higher class setting, with brighter lighting, whilst the lower state darker.

Another video that comes to mind is Christina Aguilera- Ain't no other man
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JgeuPZaERA
Even though she went through a whole flapper 1920 style phase. The only thing from this video would be the mise en scene.

The jazz tune reminds me of this;

Which happens to be a song I love, but obviously Billie Holiday was way before music video times.

I find the old style film and low saturated effect used on Christina Aguilera- Hurt
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFQFZ9Solbo and the party type scene where she's just sitting there doing her makeup. Costumes are a must for this theme.

Shadows- Au Revoir Simone.

So far, this seems to be the most popular choice for most of the groups we have been set in, but it is the only one I feel could have a storyline and suitable pitch.

If our group were lucky enough to get this song, I think that these videos would influence it a lot;

Of course before all the crazy bondage hello kitty's stuff, but the idea of a lost girl or someone in search of something in a greenland setting, I also find the whole big hair, lots of makeup effect might work aswell, with the type of dress and maybe the whole path idea.

I don't think the whole Alice in Wonderland theme would work because, it's been done:

Around 3:20 the actual song seems to kick in, but I'm sure you've all heard it before, but this video is infamous for it's whole crazy Alice in Wonderland meets Harajuku Lolita style, even though it goes through all the characters and my initial idea would just be the beginning with her in search and confused. I also feel that if the video was Alice in Wonderland themed, it may be seen to be too influenced by Tim Burton's latest release.

And a lot more recently;
Daisy Dares you- Number One Enemy.

The stopmotion effect;

Not the whole depressing and scary guys in the background, but just the way she moves and looks kind of, imagine that in a woodland setting and not with the fast pace behind her.

Another idea for the video would be a Shadow Puppet, perhaps a rabbit? I'm not sure why but the song's beat reminds me of Watership Down, but the happy part(Is any of it happy?) I can't think of any examples right now but here's an image of a fan's version of the rabbit.

Here's the scene in Watership Down with the black rabbit in, now as a kid it terrified me, but the rabbit is a shadow and now I understand the look of it more and think that maybe it could work in the video.

Au Revoir Simone's official video;

I never expected this for the video, just the band in a dark room with a camera pacing around them with instruments, the only bit of the video I understand which fits with the song itself is the movements of the camera, the stop motion style effect- like I mentioned earlier.

Views of Music.

We've finally been provided with the music we can use in our music videos, the list consists of 26 different songs, some by the same artist/genre, and some not.
I had heard of some of the songs provided before and bands, but overall I think it was a mixture of unknowns.

As a group- Liam, Sophie and I went through the list song by song and listened all the way through whilst jotting down notes in the meantime.

Here's what our thoughts for the videos we jotted down:

SUMMERTIME CLOTHES- ANIMAL COLLECTIVE
A character running around with a techno theme, sort of space invaders type of theme, although the song itself is very long and repetitive.

SHADOWS- AU REVOIR SIMONE
The song itself is my favourite from the list and even though it is the one everyone wants to use, I am still hoping to be able to pitch for this song with a stop motion type movement video with a female lead wondering around a woodland type area/Alice in Wonderland style or just like a disorinated fairytale.

STRANGE TIMES- THE BLACK KEYS
This song was very indie, so we thought a band would be needed for the video.
We also thought it reminded us of the Franz Ferdinand video for Take Me Out, with a news print style video, black and white.

MARGARITA- BRAKES
This song in general, just seemed like a joke, but alas we had to think of ideas.
It was also quite another indie style song, but our ideas wouldn't be quite suitable, pizza with policemen with big moustaches? Don't think so...

MANSION IN THE SKY- THE BRIANJONESTOWN MASSACRE
When I first heard this song, I immediately thought of Eagles- Hotel California with a Johnny Cash feel.
We thought also that it would be an old film with a western theme.

FEEL THE LOVE- CUT COPY
None of our group was too keen of this song, but obviously we still need to write down ideas!
We thought of bubbles being in a field with the band in the middle with dancers around them, then ending on a night sky.

NUMBER ONE ENEMY- DAISY DARES YOU
This song was very different from the others, it reminded us all of Avril Lavigne, and thought of the idea of being set in a school with preps and a rock chick lead with a random rapper in the middle.
Pink costumes were a must.
The video that came in my mind for it is Amy Studt- Misfit which is also set in a school.

LETS GO SURFING- THE DRUMS
My personal opinion? I hated this song.
The video that came in mind would obviously have a band with their friends on a beach in the sun, with a very repetitive song.

WICKED LITTLE GIRLS- ESTHERO
At first, I don't think any of us were too keen on this song, but after awhile we started to like it and think of good concepts for a video.
1920's theme in a posh party location, a girl band style video with lots of makeup- Chicago style.
The song itself sounded like The Pussycat Dolls.

1234- FEIST
This song has always annoyed me, but we still came up with ideas.
The song itself is acoustic, so we thought obviously the lead would have her guitar in a long flowing summer dress, set in the summer, very light and peaceful with flowers, also images matching the lyrics.

LIE- JAZZANOVA
This song first reminded Liam of Over the Hedge and we all agreed with Robbie Williams and Will Young with lots of instruments.
We didn't find a concept for this.

YOU'VE NO CLUE DO YOU- KING CRESOTE
The lyrics seem to be Cluedo themed so we thought run that theme through our idea.

LOVESICK- LINDSTROM & CHRISTABELLE
We all seemed to like this song but find it inpossible to come up with a sensible idea which doesn't involve a piano in an urban street.
Liam also said it sounds like an old Nintendo 64 game.

I'M GOOD, I'M GONE- LYKKE LI
The beginning of the song reminded both me and Liam of Eels- The Mighty Boosh, as soon as a woman started singing I thought more Robots In Disguise, but not as good as them (obviously).
We thought a very techno style theme, new wave perhaps? With lots of neons.

EVERYWHERE- MICHELLE BRANCH
This song bugged me so much! I recognized it from some sort of teen movie and after later research found out it was used for American Pie 2.
The song itself is very poppy and Avril-y again, reminded me and Liam a lot of Camp Rock, disney style rock, Hannah Montana type.
BREATHE- MICHELLE BRANCH
Same artist as above, so I joint the two.
Again, basically the same as above, except it has more of an American/Canadian feel to it.

WHAT DID HE SAY- NITE JEWEL
The beginning sounds like The Men in Black- period.
The song sounded like it was from the nineties, I felt like an old skool rap video with cars doing that jumpy thing.
The song seems very dreamy, and Sophie says it reminds her a lot of Calvin Harris.

Jasmine.

On tuesday's session, Jasmine came to speak to us about her music video history, she won BBC's Blast 2010 award to produce a music video as part of her A Level Media.
She was given a £3000 Bursary to create a music video for a song of the BBC's choice.

The video which won her the award was this;

I understand why this video won the award, it's quirky and uses interesting angles and mise en scene throughout, also the song choice seems like it could've been a hard song to think up a pitch for and lip syncing ideas.

The video which she produced with her Bursary was a much more well known song, The Wombats- Lets dance to Joy Division, however in my opinion I find her original video a lot better than the BBC one, although it had the camera work, Jasmin herself was not allowed to edit the video, I find this one of the large flaws for the video project.

Youtube Music Video.

This is a music video made by a fan of the band Mindless Self Indulgence for their single Shut Me Up.

The video features Sooty going absolutely crazy and also Sweep trying to comfort him.

I know it's not appropriate to produce a video like this due to copyright and because comedy is a no-no when it comes to student work, but I have always been a massive fan of this video because I grew up with Sooty and Sweep and Mindless Self Indulgence are one of my favourite bands.

Previous Student Music Videos.

A music video that caught my eye, because it's absolutely terrible! Is this;

What on earth is that!? Seriously, this is so badly done, it looks like some of it was done on paint and it just seems like the students who had created this work were just mocking the band's name.
What really annoyed me about this video is the Bob Dylan reference, only Bob Dylan can do this, not some stupid boy in an elephant mask with bad hand writing!

The video I actually like is from a L313 Diploma Student, Kirk which features Ali who is in our class. I really like the fact it's using original music and the actual singer in the video.
Also the black and white turning to colour effect works well with the song and the storyline in the video.

She & Him.

One lesson last week Nick was showing us music videos from professional artists, one that really caught my eye was by a band called She & Him.

At first I didn't find the video that interesting until I recognized the voice was Zooey Dechannel's, an Actress from a few films I like.
After realising this I found the video very interesting and cute with little animations and a quirky storyline.

Nick also commented on how simple the layout is and how it is possible for one of us to re-create or produce a video to that quality.

My Generation- L312 Music Video.

On friday, as a class, we all produced, filmed, directed, and performed in a music video for The Whos- My Generation.
This task was a lot of fun and before we went off to compose it, we were given a sheet of A4 paper with the lyrics on one side and the jobs on the other.

Steve left us in the room to decide what roles we'd like to be, we did this in an organized manner by raising our hand if we wanted the role. I chose to be a backing singer along with Tilly, Emma and Hannah.

We performed the video in Coleridge's drama room, which was quite a large but crowded space but we had enough room for lights, cameras and action.

Personal Statement.

Technical Skills
I can edit on the program Final Cut Express and have had two years experience with this.
I can also work in HD and understand the different formats on a camera and how to work one.
I am capable of using photoshop and other photographic editing systems, along with video editing.

I am also more than capable at switching on a light, if that counts.

Creativity
Like I said above in the whole technical section, I'm good at editing and working with different programs in what I'd like to say a unique way. I also enjoy drawing and creating collages of different imagery and just making a big mess with paint as you can see in my Capture task.
I have also created different makeup techniques and getting together costumes for a 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' theme, which I have done again for my Capture video, by applying makeup to the models and coming up with a completely different idea which failed on the actual footage, although the models had a flawless complexion in the video after applying the makeup.

Organizational Skills

Before my computer broke, I was very good at keeping to deadlines and such on my blogging and other computer work, however recently not so much due to the lack of a computer... but now that I have more time due to the lack of having pointless English lessons taking up my time, will be able to keep up more(hopefully) on the whole blogging situation.
Although that is a problem and I wouldn't generally count that as a 'skill', I can organize well by planning what I am going to do and when.

Special Powers
In my spare time I enjoy hunting in graveyards and slaying vampires...
That isn't the correct answer, well I have a wide range of knowledge in Music Videos and it's history, due to not having much of a life in my younger years, and sky TV.
I also have lots of contacts(not the lenses, I only have two of those)which I can... contact who can help or/and act in the music video and I studied Drama until College and passed, highly.

Ancillary Practice task.

In today's first session, we have been assigned to create a Digipak for a song and band from a list provided by Steve.

The list seemed to be a variety of different tracks, some we have heard of, some we haven't.
The list seems to contain two of my favourite bands however.

The song I am given is Glorious Day- Amsterdam.
I personally have never heard of this song before but I have the band, so when I heard the song it was confusing because Amsterdam are an all male indie style band although the song I have been provided is female vocals, so I'm not too sure if this is a mistake or not.

On Flickr, Steve has made it available to download a digipak template.

For my digipak, I decided to use a variety of different filters provided by photoshop but ran a similar theme throughout.

I used images from the band's myspace as bases for the pictures.

Here's my digipak;

Overall, I'm not too keen on the whole thing, some things work but some things don't and I don't find the whole colour and effects really go with the song itself.

Their original album art looks like;

I realised that they also used a grain effect however it seems a lot more peaceful than my edgy look.

Official Music Video.

My favourite music video is not a very popular one, Don't Stop by Innerpartysystem.

The first which is embedded at the top, I chose because of the fast pace and editing used throughout the video. I recently researched the technique and director's work, apparently it cost nearly nothing and it was all shot in small locations.

what I really like about this video is the storyline seen within, the story and imagery goes with the lyrics- having a news report about celebritie's obscene behavior, just like the song itself.
The band are also seen throughout the video, quick fast pace shots of them performing with a jagged camera and the lead vocalist being in the news reports like a black and white mug-shot with either his eyes or mouth censored, mostly depending on the lyrics.

The video itself is a disturbing yet clever and very 'techno' piece. It's creepy because the two news presenters are syncing with the lyrics but often has very quick cuts to them doing something obscene eg/ The woman wears a cosmetic surgery mask and the male has blood pouring out of his mouth.

The video itself got banned from certain music channels, luckily I saw it before this.

The video got replaced by another by the same director, with the 1950's style theme but not anywhere near as good.

Karaoke video.

In today's first sessions, we were put in to groups and assigned to make a short karaoke video with a popular classic provided by Pete.
We were given the task to include a variety of different shots.

As this task was just an excercise, we were given a small space to perform in and lack of props.

Because my group was only three, I decided to perform because I was the only one who actually knew the a song(a bit) although I found it hard to keep in time with the beat and the singer's voice and wording.

Unfortuantely, when it came to edit my version of the video, the footage kept needing to be rendered whenever I moved a clip, this took up too much time so in the end I had to end it.

Here's Charna and Sophie's edit:

Sophie, Charna, Angelica video exercise from cmdiploma on Vimeo.

'karaoke' lipsynch practice

Shape video

For this task, we had to open up photoshop and create an amount of layers featuring different colours and shapes, once we had done this, we had to make the layers suitable for web service and uploaded them each on to final cut express to create a video to go with the provided soundtrack. Mine was peaceful and quite random, but beforehand I picked a mixture of different shapes.

Practice Videos.

For this video, I worked with Christina using recycled clips of someones old music video footage. With this, we had the soundtrack from the video and had to edit the clips together to be in sync with the soundtrack.

In this video, Christina and I worked together again and produced this animal video with a soundtrack from a choice of others provided.
Before we knew the task after was to be in sync, Christina and I produced this video to match the song's beat and lyrics.
